To put it simply…..I have a love affair with photography, which is why I have decided to create this website.
As you glance through the various pages that have been created here, I hope that your visit will leave you with a glimpse of the beauty that is present in the world and to help you cloak over all the noise and negativity that has its daily outpourings in today’s modern world.
Photography is like meditation where you can find yourself so absorbed in its hypnotic field that you start to lock into the highlights and beauty of nature.
Landscape photography is undertaken with the view of recalling an observation or experience while in the outdoors, especially when on my travels around the UK.
Whilst photographing flowers and plants, I endeavour to coax out the highlights and beauty of nature in a way that has been eluding capture in earlier projects. Nature photography tends to put a stronger emphasis on the artistic value of the photo than other photogenic fields, such as film making and documentary photography
British Heritage – Ruins & Walls – This is where beauty and form like to take centre stage. The dilapidated, the crumbling and the ruins begging for recognition and admired for the barren remnants of their structural remains that are no longer acquainted with their former glory.
Nature photography is a wide range of photography taken outdoors and devoted to displaying natural elements such as landscapes, wildlife, plants, and close-ups of natural scenes and textures. Nature photography tends to put a stronger emphasis on the aesthetic value of the photo than other photography genres, such as photojournalism and documentary photography
Birds – This does draw on copious amount of patience and practice. Birds feel threatened when you approach them too fast directly. They also feel threatened when you look directly at them, as any other predator would. Averting your gaze to the `viewfinder` can guarantee a productive outcome of success. Habitat, the times of day birds are most active, and when birds are likely to be displaying interesting behaviour. These are all important areas to know about.
My images of steam railways appear as if they could have been taken back in the days of steam. I am not a fan of putting in the mix anything that is redolent of the modern 21st Century. Like oil and water it strains to blend together only to be constantly separated from one another. The monochrome touch adds to the feel of antiquity.I especially enjoy capturing such things as an engine being topped up with water or close ups of all the 'workings' and the rush of steam upon its departure from the station.
Abstract Photography is a method of expressing ideas and images that deviate away from the simple and comprehensive way of perceiving an object. By journeying beyond the usual portrayals of an item or part, what is manifest are details that are normally ignored and this is the spark that ignites the viewer`s imagination. Abstract images trigger emotional responses and thoughts by including an element of mystery and intrigue; giving way to a sense of wonder which invites the onset of an appreciation of the most complex and inviting pieces of art.
